Curious about Microcurrent?
We’re back today to talk about one of our more unique treatments, the Microcurrent Facial. It may seem a little daunting at first, but this is actually an amazing, non-invasive way to fight aging! We like to refer to it as a work-out for your face because it’s going to make your muscles appear lifted and more defined, just like they would if you went to the gym and worked on your arms or legs. It’s also a great alternative to more invasive treatments and can even help to make your injections, such as Botox, last longer!
Originally, the Microcurrent technology was used as a healthcare instrument to help stimulate muscles for patients who were experiencing nerve-paralysis, such as Bell’s Palsy. Later on, it was found that this treatment could offer cosmetic results as well, thus bringing the FDA to approve it for use in spa’s and medical offices! At Toccare, we use it for a multitude of things, as it can be customized to your needs. The main uses are to help lift and firm aging skin, tone the muscles on the face and neck, reduce and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, and can help to stimulate and boost the production of collagen. We’ve also experienced great results treating acne as Microcurrent can release congestion, break up old stubborn scar tissue, all while lightening hyperpigmentation.
How does it work? Electrical currents flow through two probes that we use to trace across different areas of the face. These probes result in painless pulses that send signals to the facial muscles, which helps them relax and recover while re-educating the muscles to return to their original position. The results of Microcurrent are cumulative so if you are looking for the best results possible, we recommend a total of 10-12 sessions, roughly once a week, which totals about 3 months. After this period, you will be able to maintain results with less treatments, which would be about once a month to keep everything firm and lifted. If you are looking to try Microcurrent and have a special event, such as a wedding or High School reunion, this is a great treatment to save for special occasions. The results are best on day 3 post treatment and will generally last 7 days.
This treatment is great for all skin types, even sensitive! The only restrictions are towards those who have pacemakers, epilepsy, high blood pressure, a history of heart problems, and to play it safe, those who are pregnant. If using in conjunction with Botox, make sure to wait until 14 days post injection, as to avoid it potentially moving around. As always, if you are unsure, talk with your doctor before deciding on this treatment to make sure it will be safe for you!
Warmly,
Team Toccare
