Botnia skincare is a perfect example of what we look for in a company when deciding to introduce them to our spa. They share the belief that effective, healthy skincare should be accessible to everyone, and that the ingredients we use affect our entire body: “Skin IS our body. What we put on it will eventually be working its way through our entire system. So, if we want to be healthy, we have to start seeing our skin as part of a larger system.” says Justine Kahn, founder and CEO of Botnia.
Justine was raised in Vermont by hippies (a.k.a her parents) and was taught that there’s value in organic food and body products. This belief lead her to open her own luxury spa, Skin Remedy, in San Francisco, California in 2010. She wanted a way to offer a customized experience for each client in the treatment room, so she decided to develop a signature collection of powerful, raw ingredients. Six years later, Justine teamed up with a scientist to create a line of science-based, truly organic skincare— thus marking the beginning of Botnia.
All of her products are handcrafted in small batches right in Sausalito, California and a majority of the ingredients used are sourced straight from Botnia’s own Microfarm. If an ingredient isn’t suitable for growth in Sausalito’s climate, they make sure to search for a farm with the same organic farming practices that they use— meaning you can trust every single ingredient is treated with care.
